Space Coast Meeting with LTG (Ret.) Jay Garner

General Garner had a very attentive audience as he spoke about his experience with the reconstruction efforts in Iraq. Iraq has experienced a growth in everyday life since the office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance has been in effect. General Garner related that pre-war, Iraq only had 50% of the population receiving electricity and that percentage only for a short period of time. He shared details about the heath care and education system was very low, noting that educational supplies were in short supply.

General Garner talked about the accomplishments that have been made since the war: schools being built, clean water getting to more families, streets clean of sewage, electricity reaching most of the country, and hospitals being built. The attendees enjoyed hearing LTG Garner speak and the most common question was why don’t we hear these good news stories through the media?
