Members of the Sunshine Chapter Board of Governors and Executive Committee:

Your Chapter, under the outstanding planning efforts of Ms. Debbie Berry of Lockheed Martin, just completed hosting the 3rd Region AUSA Meeting. I need to share three highlights with you now.

First, our own Earle L. Denton was named the FIRST recipient of the Brenda M. Daugherty AUSA Lifetime of Service Award.

Dave Halloran did an outstanding job of introducing Earle as the award winner.

Second, the Chapter nominated Congressman John Mica for the Robert F. Cocklin award. Congressman Mica gave short, well-received remarks. And his wife gave us updates on the Florida-George Mason NCAA basketball game!

I should have remembered that it was April Fools Day. Mrs. Mica’s source was their daughter, who had me announce to the crowd that George Mason had put together a rally to go ahead 66-64. Nothing I said after that point in time was believed….

Third, but certainly not least, your Sunshine Chapter was named BEST mid-sized Chapter in the Region!!!!

Good thing Kip was there. I couldn’t have lifted that trophy!!!
