Bev Kitaoka's Training and Simulation Solutions (T&SS) Business Unit, headquartered in Orlando, FL, has just under 700 employee owners, with offices from Monterey, CA to Central Europe.
The T&SS Business Unit applies information technology in a variety of domains to include training, education, and the acceleration of the transformation of our armed forces. It provides live, virtual, and constructive simulation system development and convergence, as well as e-Learning/Advanced Distributed Learning both locally and globally. The business unit is a vendor-neutral prime contractor for the development and integration of software-intensive systems.
In addition to its core markets of the US Armed Forces, the business unit also leverages its military training technology and expertise in other markets to include Homeland Security, Domestic Preparedness, and Emergency Management Exercise design and support. As part of its diversification efforts, the BU also provides federal, state, and local governments with IT services as well as commercial IT partnership and outsourcing engagements, ranging from IT process assessment improvement to full IT outsourcing.
The business unit serves a wide range of Defense, Federal, State, and commercial customers. Its common business base involves the innovative application of information technology in different domains, applied with disciplined technical and managerial processes. The business unit was externally assessed at Level 4 of the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model in July of 2001, and is completing preparations for a Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) Level 5 assessment this year.
The BU’s key customers include the US Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, the US Agency for International Development, the US Marine Corps Systems Command, the US Department of Homeland Security, US Joint Forces Command, the Army Training Support Center, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
